Tour des Ecrins (2004)
Photos
These photos are from a walk we did in summer 2004 - the GR54 around Ecrins National Park in the Southern Alps. The walk is about 300km with nearly 25,000m of ascent and descent. We were averaging about, 2000m of climbing every day. This is the hardest walk I have ever done - it makes Himalayan trekking look like kids stuff. We were able to get food every three or four days, and we had a few days just wandering around the glaciers and peaks off trails. We started in Bourg de Oisan the day after the Tour de France went through and finished 14 days later.
